What Makes This Recipe Great
You may have seen the #butterboard trend on Tik Tok or Instagram recently. This new take on a charcuterie board is super easy, crowd-friendly, and delicious! I just had to try my hand at my own kind of butter board, but with Hummus!
This super simple recipe features pita and hummus, diced cucumbers, tomatoes, olives, crumbled feta, and olive oil! A healthier take on the butter board recipe that everyone is raving about.
Ingredient Notes
Hummus: Get a large (17oz) container of your favorite hummus. I used plain, but if you prefer to use a flavored hummus, that will work great too!
Feta: You can get crumbled feta or a fresh block and crumble it yourself. If you prefer this pita and hummus butter board to be dairy-free, omit the feta cheese.
Tomatoes: Use grape or cherry tomatoes and cut them in fourths.
Red Onion: I diced my red onion but you could also cut them into thin slices if you prefer.
Olives: Kalamata olives add delicious flavor to this butter board. If you prefer black olives, feel free to use them instead.
Bread: You can use pita, mini naan, crackers, or whatever you prefer! I found my mini naan in the refrigerated section at Walmart. Sam’s Club also carries this as well.
Fresh Dill: I used fresh dill for garnish, which adds some brightness and flavor. This is optional.
Recipe Step by Step
- Spread the hummus evenly over the service of a platter or cutting board, using a spoon.
- Next, add the diced cucumbers, diced tomatoes, red onions, feta cheese, and Kalamata olives.
- Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Sprinkle fresh dill over the entire board.
- Serve with mini naan bread or crackers.
Mac’s Pro Tips
Storage: If you have leftovers, the best way to save them is to wrap the entire board in plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator. Eat within 24-48 hours.
Variations: You can really make this trend your own. Add or take away any toppings, use a different flavor of hummus, or even experiment with different layers altogether. You could try a Mexican 7-layer dip theme, a dessert theme with Nutella, and more! The options are truly endless.
Dairy-Free: Omit the feta to keep this recipe dairy free. You can also use gluten-free naan bread or crackers to make this recipe even more allergy-friendly.
