Issues - Glenn Jacobs - Knox County Mayor (2024)

Glenn knows that the best way for businesses to grow and create jobs is by getting the government out of the way. That’s why he’s worked to keep taxes low and eliminate unnecessary regulations. As Mayor of Knox County, Glenn has supported policies that have allowed our businesses to grow and create more than 2,500 jobs for Knox County residents. He’s also taken on - and won - battles against those advocating for lockdowns so our local businesses could get back to work during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, he sold millions in county real estate, like the Andrew Johnson Building, to get it put back on the tax rolls. Over the next four years, Glenn will continue to balance Knox County’s budget and make forward-thinking investments in our community. He’ll continue to support our businesses, invest in workforce development programs and strengthen our local economy because he knows Knox County is the best place to live, work and raise a family.

As a fiscal conservative, Glenn understands the importance of keeping our taxes low and eliminating costly, burdensome regulations. While other towns, cities, counties and states across the country raised taxes during the pandemic, Glenn held firm and didn’t increase Knox County’s taxes. Not even a penny. Thanks to Glenn’s conservative leadership, Knox County is better prepared to rebound from the pandemic. As your County Mayor, Glenn will continue working to keep taxes low so Knox Countians can keep more of their hard-earned money and businesses can grow, creating more jobs and opportunities.

Glenn is working to ensure our future leaders have access to the best education possible. As Mayor, Glenn has created three new schools in Knox County without increasing taxes. He is committed to building trade and technical schools in the county. Additionally, Glenn understands that we must retain and recruit great educators and staff members. That’s why he gave our Knox County teachers the biggest annual raise since 2008. In office, Glenn will always fight to ensure our future leaders have access to the education they deserve.

Knox County’s roads, bridges and highways are vital to our economy, and we must ensure they remain safe for our families and visitors. Glenn increased the paving budget by 50 percent. He’s working to ensure Knox County’s infrastructure is up-to-date and prepared to meet the demands of our businesses, families and visitors. And when it comes to infrastructure, Glenn is also working to ensure that ALL Knox County residents have access to broadband services. The COVID-19 pandemic showed how important access to broadband is, and we must continue to close the digital gap. As your Mayor of Knox County, Glenn will continue his efforts to improve our county’s infrastructure and expand access to broadband.

One of Glenn’s top priorities in office has been the safety and security of Knox County residents. He supports our local law enforcement officers, increasing deputies’ salaries by over 10% since taking office. Glenn knows our local heroes put their lives on the line each and every day, and we must support them and ensure they have the resources they need to keep our communities safe, especially as Biden’s border crisis has made every town a border town. Glenn continues to hold the Biden Administration accountable as illegal immigrants are bussed through Tennessee. We can’t allow violent criminals like MS-13 gang members, drug traffickers, human traffickers and sex offenders to enter our communities. Additionally, Glenn has taken steps to curb the opioid epidemic by working to fund a recovery high school and mental health facility in Knox County. Over the next four years, Glenn will continue to support our law enforcement officers and work to ensure our communities remain safe and secure.

As Mayor of Knox County, Glenn has prioritized protecting our conservative values from the radical Left’s socialist agenda. He is an ardent defender of the United States Constitution, making Knox County a Second Amendment sanctuary. Glenn has also been a strong voice for the unborn, denying funding to abortion providers like Planned Parenthood. And when the radical Left wanted to take away our freedoms and keep Knox County residents locked down, Glenn fought back against their COVID-19 lockdowns and abuse of power. As Knox County Mayor, Glenn will continue to take on the radical Left and protect our conservative values.
