From the geniuses that treat the case as a game to the death gods that brought their notebooks down to Earth, fans enjoyed the compelling players throughout the entire series. One character that changed the manga more than most was Misa.

Though Misa isn't as smart as characters like Light or L, she was very important in the case due to her role as the Second Kira. She had the Shinigami Eyes, which allowed her to see people's names and lifespans, and helped Kira in any way that she could. She had a lot of great quotes that fans have always loved.

10 "I Think I've Been Totally Wrong About You This Whole Time."

L and Misa did not get along at all when they first met. Though he pretended to be a fan of hers, he quickly confined her due to evidence of her being the Second Kira. He kept her imprisoned for weeks.

After that, she insulted him any moment she could. However, when L and the task force saw things differently on how they should go after Yotsuba, Misa ended up joining Light and temporarily saw him as her friend.

Misa's greatest rival in the series was another interest of Light's, Takada. As Kira's spokesperson, Light pretended to investigate her while secretly giving her orders. Because of how close the two were getting, Misa got jealous of Takada and said these words to her over dinner.

Prior to Takada being reintroduced, Demegawa was Kira's spokesperson. However, when he led a group of Kira's followers to the SPK headquarters and was distracted by money rather than finding Near, he lost is right and died once Teru Mikami took over Kira's killings.

At the time, Misa was in charge of killing people for Light but she was unable to see Near's face due to the camera facing the money. Though it wouldn't have mattered since Near had protected himself as he escaped, Misa blamed Demegawa for not being able to help Light.

When the task force learned about the Second Kira, they rushed to Sakura TV to get Demegawa to stop broadcasting the tapes that the Second Kira had sent to him. Ukita lost his life as he went to the building, causing L to learn that the Second Kira only needed someone's face to kill them.

Misa may have wanted to work with the police, but they didn't want to work with her.

After having enough evidence to believe that Misa was the Second Kira, L imprisoned her and tried to get her to confess. Loving Light, she was willing to die in order to keep him safe. She asked Rem to kill her, saying that she had already escaped death and was living on borrowed time.

However, she ended up making a deal with Rem to remove her memories of the notebook so that she wouldn't be able to reveal anything to L. Rem would then join forces with Light to save Misa.

Everything that Misa had ever done since obtaining her own notebook was for her love towards Light. He killed her parents' murderer and she felt grateful to Kira for avenging them. Her actions as the Second Kira led her to learning that Light was Kira.

From the moment they met, she was willing to do anything to be with him. However, for all that she had done, Light never truly cared about her and only pretended to reciprocate her feelings to achieve his goal.

It is very hard to kill a Shinigami. One day, Misa nearly died at the hands of one of her stalkers after rejecting him. The reason she was unharmed and survived was because Gelus, a Shinigami that loved her, wrote the stalker's name into his notebook.

If a Shinigami saves the life of a human they love, the Shinigami dies and its lifespan goes to the human. Rem witnessed Gelus' death and gave his notebook to Misa. Rem would end up suffering the same fate. Light may not love Misa but real Gods do.

When Misa finally met Light, he told her that he was not happy with the actions she made in order to find him. She explained that he avenged her parents and that she would help him in anyway that she could, even being willing to give him her notebook.

Asking her how killing Ukita was any different from the murderer killing her parents, she said these words to him. Misa would end up sacrificing the lives of anyone Light demanded in order to satisfy him.
