Has BYU ever had a spring break? ›

Over the past several years, the absence of a spring break at BYU has raised concerns among students, faculty, and parents. The call for a spring break is not merely driven by a desire for a week of leisure; it is grounded in genuine concern for the overall well-being of the BYU community.

Semester-length classes are classes that span both spring and summer terms (classes start the first day of spring term and end the last day of summer term.) Semester-length classes will show up on your transcript only under spring term, and the hours for semester-length classes will only count toward spring term.

False. Applying for summer does not increase a student's chances of being accepted. Todd Hollingshead, BYU media relations manager, said all admissions are done equally. The same criteria and methods used to accept students into Fall Semester are used in Summer Term as well.

The university has told the Daily Universe in the past that BYU doesn't have a spring break because of its tight schedule with Education Week and other summer commitments and the fact that it gives students a head start on summer jobs and internships.

Undergraduate student employees, both citizens and non-citizens, cannot exceed 20 hours a week during Fall/Winter semesters unless outlined by the Holiday Break Schedule or they have an approved exception request from the Student Employment Office.

An undergraduate student who registers for twelve or more credit hours in a semester or six or more credit hours in a term is a full-time student. Registration for 9.0 to 11.5 credit hours per semester or 4.5 to 5.5 credit hours per term is three-quarter-time status.
